Miele Novotronic W 838 error code

I have lent my Miele W838 to my mother-in-law. The machine is in Chile, while I am in Norway, making diagnosis a bit difficult for me. To further complicate things, I have only been able to download the instruction manual in Dutch.

When starting on a washing cycle, it will take in water, then immediately start to pump it out. The drum will not move.

To the right of the control knob there is a vertical row of lights (prewash, wash, rinse, rinse stop (Spoelstop in the Dutch manual), pump, and anti-wrinkle/stop (Kreukbeveiliging/Einde in the Dutch manual)

The following lamp will be lit: Kreukbeveiliging/Einde.
The following lamp will flash: Spoelen (Rinse)

I must add that the washing machine was moved to recover an item that had fallen behind it before the problem arose.

Bit complicated that Thor……….

At an educated guess, the fault may well be in the temperature/heater circuits. If you can bear with us on this, we will try and get some information. Miele as a company are notoriously difficult to get technical information from.

One question springs to mind which has nothing to with your query Thor.

If you are in Norway and you lent the machine to you Mother-In-law in Chile, it must have cost more than the machine to get it there ?

Just interested, unless you work for an airline company of course 😀

To those of you wondering what my washing machine is doing in Chile and how it got there, I can say that I moved there and sent a lot of things in a big wooden box by sea freight.
