    Hi
My uber machine is starting to play up and I am seeking some advice before shelling out big money to Miele for repairs.

Machine is a Novotronic W827 washer serial 00/48768661 purchased 2002

At end of normal washing cycle the machine drains but does not spin out. The status light on the right hand side normally illuminates the stages to show where in the cycle it is. However the light flickers or pulses continuously at the spin stage.

Selecting manual spin seems to work ok. Drain and filters are clear.

Any thoughts or suggestions. Can’t say I am too impressed as the previous machine was a Zanussi that lasted 15 years without a squeak.

I’d say the important thing is the light that is “flickering”, it is probably an error indication so we would need to know which light it is.

If it is the spin light flashing, that would normally indicate the motor spinning too slow, but that should also happen on just a spin cycle.

    Hi

I too have a Miele Novotronic of similar vintage, and it does exactly what you describe. The light indicates a problem with the water supply or outlet. Have checked all filters, and have spent time cleaning out the hoses (internal and external) in the outlet, as these were full of limescale. There’s also that odd moulding at the back that sends the outlet to the top of hte machine and then back down again before it reaches the outlet port. Not sure what the small bore pipe is from the top of this to the detergent moulding – is it some sort of grey water circulation system or a vent?

Am completely confused – can only think it is a sensor problem, as there doesn’t seem to be anythign fundamental wrong with the machine. Next job is to try to check that the pressure switch inlet isn’t blocked!

Have you managed to sort yours old, am finding this very frustrating!

    Thanks

The machine is behaving itself and the fault has not re appeared. It was the spin status light that was flickering. The drain and inlet lights were not on and both were checked and clear. I suspect therefore that it was either an overload sensor or something to do with the spin command.

I will wait and see if it comes back.

i could be wrong but; even though you say you’ve checked pipes etc i’d bet that a 5p coin is involved somewhere. it’s so common. they can cause an intermittent “flap” type valve. complete removal of the drain hoses and a good shake will often dislodge the little blighter.

Thanks for all your ideas – it is now finally working once more. It turned out to be that the little pressure vessel was blocked by a bit of scale/lint, which I eventually managed to remove and clean with the pressure washer. There wasn’t a lot, but I think that it was sufficient to alter the pressure seen by the level sensing switches.

Getting at the pressure vessel was another matter though, and eventually I removed the bottom half of the door seal, through which I was able to get a ratchet spanner to reach the single bolt holding it on to the drum housing.

Was very impressed with the general construction of the machine, (almost) a pleasure to work on!
