I’ve been contacted by someone who has a Miele W870 washing machine. After 5.5 years it has broken down and it was covered by D&G breakdown insurance. Apparently a “Miele” engineer came out and wrote it off saying the fault was with the main board (novatronic) He apparently said that the cost of this board was £600!!

Maybe the £600 was including labour or maybe not (I’m not sure) but D&G have offered 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the cost of the machine.

The customer bought the Miele washing machine because of the exceptional build quality and the expected longevity (20 years) but is left disillusioned. Personally, as someone who actively recommends Miele washing machines as “the best”, “Rolls Royce” and “class” I’m perturbed at this tale and the thought that a failure of the main PCB board could write one off after 5 years.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

i doubt that is the cost of the pcb (half that easily), plus there would be an exchange price for it ne way, and if the customer goes back to the miele agent they bought it from they would be able negiotate a good will claim unless they bought it from a shed then well they shouldnt have lol

needs more investigating imo as miele are quite flexible in my experiience.

as a foot note miele have approx 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} nff on boards returned to them from their own engineers, so is it really a board problem ?

I wonder whether the engineer wrote it off because he didn’t know what was wrong with it?
