    Hi All

Ive had this washer for the last five years with no problems. In the last six months ive noticed the ‘excess detergent’ light comes on even with small loads. Ive become paranoid about not over dosing the wash so always use the correct amount of detergent and usually use Persil and fabric conditioner.
When on spin the main amount of water drains and as the spin speed increases lots of foamy bubbles appear and sometimes the machine wont ramp up to the full 1300. Ive tried an extra rinse and there is NO soap in the water and yet the spin starts and foamy bubbles appear.
I have checked the filter at the front numerous times. I have found that those removable wing tips from shirts have made their way down there along with things like pins, coins and grit. Ive also checked my waste outlet on the sink this weekend and that is not blocked either.
I have noticed, after looking at you tube videos that Miele machines have a vertical plastic assembly that the pump outlet goes into and the waste to the drain come out of said assembly at the top of the machine.

    1. What is this assembly called? Is it a fancy U bend or suds collector, does it have any sensors fitted to it and what do they do?
    2. Is it possible that some small items have got past the pump and blocked this assembly slightly, causing the sudsing? Can this assembly be backflushed or easily unblocked?

I have ran a boil wash with no clothes in and this hasnt cured the problem either. Id rather attempt the issie myself rather than call a Miele engineer in. Im an electronic engineer by trade, so i am not daunted by the dissasembly of the machine.

    Any ideas or help welcomed.

    Cheers

    Mike

Re: Miele Prestige plus not draining/sudsy spin

Doesn`t this machine have a ball in the sump hose where it joins to the tank or the problem/blockage is at t`other end where it joins to the filter housing? If so that maybe where the problem lies. Sounds as though you are running the machine on a soft water supply? If so and since the machine doesn`t seem to pump out properly this will cause any froth to be worse. The box at the top should be an anti syphon unit. Just sounds to me to be a simple blockage somewhere within the system

Re: Miele Prestige plus not draining/sudsy spin

    Hi everyone

I have finally fixed this issue with the machine (W562) prestige plus.
If you have this issue with this model of Miele try the following:

Unplug from mains, disconnect water and drain. Get a quality set of Torx drivers to hand. Remove top cover, remove prog selector knob, remove soap drawer. Very carefully use a blunt object to push the clear facia downward and outwards, this will then come out easily. Do not try to lever it out from the side or you will damage it. Remove 2x Torx screws from controller. You might at this point think that you need to remove the connectors from the controller – DONT. Unscrew plastic facia, lift plastic tabs and free from machine, the controller can be fed through the facia and rested on top of machine.
Remove steel band securing door seal. Remove 2x screws from front panel top. Remove 2x Torx from bottom of front & large screw from under drum aperture. The front can now come away, try to hinge it open from the right as you will need to disconnect a plug from the door lock and slide the front to the right to clear a plastic clip holding the door lock.
Remove all Torx screws holding left hand side panel and remove panel.
Now your ready to clear the issue.
Remove drain pipe, pull off hoses from the white Assembly screwed to the back of the cabinet. Push the drum over and remove this assembly. This will be full of sludge, take outside or into the shower and backfill and shake until no more muck comes out of it, mine took numerous back fills and shaking to get the rubbish out. I. Thought it was paper tissues, but i think it’s just congealed soap. Remove the small thin hose that goes from this to a ‘Y’ connector and clean, remove the long hose that goes from ‘Y’ connector to drain pump and clean. Mine was blocked solid. I couldn’t blow down it. It was jammed with pet hair, grass, elastic bands all in various states of rot. Remove rubber assembly that goes from soap drawer to drum and clean that too – it will be grotty. There is no need to remove the rubber assembly from the bottom of the drum, mine was totally clear. Reassemble is just a reversal of the above.

The machine is a dream to work on, all I needed was Torx drivers and a plumbers wrench(?) to compress some clips over hoses on the pump.

The machine now works like a brand new machine, clothes are rinsed properly, all the water is pumped out, the spin happens as it should and clothes come out of the drum almost bone dry.

Don’t be scared to try doing this yourself, just go slowly, take lots of pictures for reference and don’t rush.

Above all make sure the machine is unplugged, take the fuse out of the plug and put it In your pocket to be certain that it can’t be accidentally plugged back in by someone else.

    Hope this has helped someone.

    Cheers
