Miele prestige plus W524 faulty

Our loyal Miele washing machine has gone faulty after 15 years.

The final spin was extremely noisy and when looking at the machine we noticed sparks inside the drum.

When we stopped the machine we have noticed the drum rim in a certain point has been scorched and the edge is rough (looks like the metal lacquer has peeled). The clothes have also been damaged and smell of smoke.

Miele have offered a fixed price repair but I am not sure if we should just replace the machine. Any advice appreciated

Hi Dave it was £280 I think but if it’s not cost effective they put the money towards a credit to a new machine.

well if the drum spider has gone Miele want £600 retail for that so i cant see it being cost effective

also on your new machine avoid auto dosing. its one more thing to go wrong and you have to buy special types of detergent
