ParticipantI’ve written an article highlighting how many (or all?) of current Miele washing machines require a Miele engineer or dealer to reset error codes before the machine can continue working and how this must (surely?) be against restrictive trade legislation.
I’ve already had one comment from a concerned consumer. However, I’m not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure of exactly how bad this situation is or if it really is illegal. Is it justified in any way?
I’d appreciate some comments on the article clarifying the situation (eg. how many error codes must be reset and does the washer stop working even after fault fixed until reset?) and giving experience of what it means from an independent repairers point of view – resetting error code on miele washing machines

So far as I know this is correct.
David just had a customer on buying an ISE10 though to replace his five year old Miele that’s bust. Miele quoted him about £500 to fix it.
They sure must use a lot of gold and diamonds in those PCBs. 😉

Now all we need is for that customer to post his / her story up so young Adam can see it 😈

Thank guys. What I meant was comments on the article to give it weight. I realise on re-reading it might have been ambiguous when I said I’d appreciate some comments.
Also, K, was that a domestic machine or a commercial one?

I’d appreciate more details if possible like exact age and model no? And did it just need a new main pc?
I will write an article about this issue too if I have enough facts. For several years I’ve lauded Miele as the best and whilst still believing they are – but at what cost? – I am very keen to let people know all facts so they can make their own mind up.
I’ve already linked to my Blog article about the apparent restriction of repair trade from all my Washerhelp Miele reviews.

We didn’t get too much detail Andy, just that it was about five years old, needed a PCB and the chap was told it would cost about £500 to repair by a Miele engineer. More than that I don’t know.

Thanks K, I appreciate that. I might use it, it just seems a little too anecdotal without more detail.

Said machine is now in my van. I’ll have a little look and see what’s going on.
Customer asked (In all seriousness!) whether or not the pcb could be programmed to fail at 5 years and one week, as he had a 5 year warranty on the machine………
Anyway, he likes his nice new 10, so fingers crossed for him. Will report re. his old one.

It is a W487. Unable to programme it. Down loaded user manual and turned off the child lock function………
MrsP’s going to take one look at it and go “Mine…..”
