ParticipantOur tumble dryer has recently developed a leak. I’ve stripped the machine down, cleaned everything in the process (now like new) and run the machine with the sides off to investigate.
The problem is that water will drip over the edge of the condenser tunnel (especially when the fan blows hard) and drip on the floor. I’ve checked that the condenser is fitted correctly (it is) and ensured the machine is level but water is still blown over the edge of the tunnel where the cutaway exists to allow the airflow to pass through the condenser and exit the machine. Does anyone know what is causing this?
I’ve checked that the water pump runs continuously and is pumping the water into the drawer without any blockages (which it is) and the water pump assembly has been thoroughly cleaned and all parts are now as new and appear to be working perfectly. Why is water pooling in the condenser tunnel so that it is then able to be blown over the edge? The pump is working, there are no blockages and the machine is level?
Someone else had reported this same issue on another forum but no answer was given? I was advised to post here for a better response. I’ve tried to upload some images to show the problem but the forum appears to have no available memory to accept new images?
Any help much appreciated.

ParticipantThought I’d answer my own question having found the fix.
The problem is the seals on the condenser had worn and needed replacement. You can still order these direct from Miele and cost around £25 each. The condenser tunnel should remain dry and with worn seals the water at the back can leak back into the tunnel and be blown over the edge as described.
Some people are selling a complete condenser unit for around £260 but you only need the seals assuming your original is intact.
The Miele parts catalogue can be accessed here (Miele parts catalogue) and simply enter your model number.
If you’ve taken the back metal plate off you’ll need to remove the old seal and refit using RTV available from any good car parts store. RTV is used to seal oil sumps, head gaskets and similar and generally works to temperatures over 200 degrees celsius.
Hope this helps anyone that has a similar problem.
