My Mother has Miele T234C tumbler that has begun to blow fuses, I attempted to investigate myself but was immediately stumped because I could not remove the top ! Please dont laugh but I really have tried to do this. Removed four retaining screws, two at the rear and one on each side that are hidden behind a small removable plate, and still the lid will not lift off. There must be something else holding it on ?
I also tipped the machine backwards to see if there was anything I could do from underneath and quite a lot of water ran out, probably two pints. Mum remembered then that it had been leaving a drop on the floor after she had used it but thought nothing of it.
Alas our local repairman does not deal with Miele and neither do some others I’ve rang and I doubt if Miele will be able to send a man until next week so I would be extremely grateful if someone could give me a pointer as to how this top comes off because I would be most disappointed if we got someone out for it to only be a loose hose or something equally trivial.

It should just lift and wiggle back. The lid is the least of your problems…… If you’ve got two pints of water out, the pump to lift the water into the drawer is either blocked or failed. The dryer will be fusing because the excess water in the base has made its way into the fan chamber and is being thrown up into the heating element.

Singularly unpleasant machine to work on and you will have to fully demolish it to acces the pump and heater; including taking the drum out. At least two hours work for a professional. Which is probably why your local repairer said “No”!

Power off if you’re going to have a go.

Sorry to delay in replying but we had a cookie problem and I could not log into this forum.

Thanks for the informative response, naturally I did’nt try any further and we got a chap to come out to it and he removed a fairly pathetic little lump of fluff that was blocking something and the dryer is working fine once again.
There is though now a bit of a problem with the washing machine. The washer had to be pulled out in order to access the power point for the dryer and now everytime mum puts it on the water pipes bang when the machine stops filling. Any ideas ?
