The one shot had gone open circuit. After investergation the water discharge pump at the back of the machine was not running, and the heating element area was getting very damp.

The discharge pump works with direct 240V on it on the bench. But is only getting 240V to it in situ NO NEUTRAUL return path.

This is switched by the 6Volt realy on the PCB, I have taken this relay off the PCB and tested on the bench & all works OK.

    I am suspecting a faulty PCB !

But am I missing something simple ? any known faults with these symptoms.

    Thanks

the relay may work on the bench but where you putting a 6 volt supply to it or was it powered from the pcb

the reason i say this is because usually they do not use stated voltages on the relays its not uncommon for a 12v relay to be powered by 8v and fail with age cause it can no longer pull in at that voltage

    Thanks Dave

I have put in a 5V coil relay (instead of the 6V) and noticed the relay next to it, gets about 4.6V.
I need to trace the sequence of events to relise when the pump gets switched on, as I believe I may have been checking for the coil voltage before the processor drives the voltage to the coil.

    i shall keep you informed
