    Hi there,

I have been having trouble with my Miele T494C condensing tubmble dryer for a few days now. I bought the machine second hand about 18 months ago and have a pretty good use out of it. It is probably about 10 years old I think.

A few days ago i put a load in on Extra Dry Cottons and it ran through the lighted stages of drying very quickly (20 mins when it should have taken an hour) and it finished with the flashing light of finish/anti-crease.

We religiously clean the lint traps after every dry but i cleaned those. i also pulled out the condensing unit which probably hadn’t been done in 6 months or so and it was quite full off fluff and hair (furry dogs). I cleaned that out with the shower head and pulled out fluff from the cavity where the condenser unit is housed.

After doing this maintenance i thought it would be worth giving the dryer another go.

Tonight I came home to the smell of what I thougth i was garlic cooking. apparently the wife had tried to tumble dry some clothes and it was still running the same problem as before and then she started noticing a burning smell so switched the machine off. Initially she thought she saw smoke but thinks it was just the steam coming out of the drum.

Any thoughts or ideas? I had initially thought about trying to self diagnose further rather than call out Miele (I know my options are limited and costly) but I really don’t want to be putting my family at risk by doing a bad job myself.

Apologies for the ramble any thoughts would be greatly appreciated from you good people!

Most likely the pet hair/fluff has been dislodged & particles have burned off on heater element. Run a few cycles with no clothing in or better still run for a while on cool only to see if it will shift the odour.

    Thanks Seamy.

I ran a few cycles on cold and it does seem to have shifted the problem.

However, the machine is still running through a cycle too quickly and with the Finish/Anit-crese light continuously flashing. This happens whether it is on high or low. I have tried unplugging and plugging in again. It runs for about 15 or 20 mins before beeping and stopping. It goes through all the stages on the lights too. The water container is no where near as hot as it normally is.

    Thanks

Does finish light flash for a number of flashes & then stop, please count number of flashes & report back.

The dryer stops, it beeps and then flashes about 60 times for a minute, beeps again and then repeats ad infinitum.

Whilst it is drying the light constantly flashes.
