Most Miele dryers are accessed through the back of the drum, newer ones its at the back of the machine.
Put your head into the drum and see a plate on the back wall, see three (i think) allen head/torx type srews fixing on the drum backplate.
When this is removed you can get at it.

On back wall of drum two larger holes about an inch each side of centre. If you turn drum so they are at 3 o’clock & 9 o’clock shine torch in you will see allen screw in each, undo these ( they are captive ). Then undo six allen headed screws around back plate lift back plate it will come forward. Move back plate to side, heater is behind this lot. Also check one shot thermostat mounted on top of heater.
    Hope this helps. clayside

I also find tipping the appliance back and keeping it there makes re allignment a lot easier, the drum will otherwise drop. main faults are stats, make sure venting is ok in and out and you can see thru filter ok. 😉
