    Hi

I have a 1994 Miele T560C condensing tumble dryer. After 12 years of good service it now has a heating problem. Sometimes in a cycle it just never heats up (after 30 mins clothes are only slightly warm and still damp), but other times it works fine and clothes are too hot to hold and have been dried.

Can anyone suggest the probable cause and how to fix? I’m a proficient DIY mender (but not a trained engineer).

A new heating element is £90 and a pair of thermostats £40, but if it’s just a loose wire, fixing that is free!

    All comments/advice welcome.

sounds like a loose wire or connect to your stats or element.

    Power OFF, if investigating.

Or simply check if you have clean condenser, filter from door frame… for one easy air circulation through cloths and also for the other circuit “condenser (cooling)”.
If you don’t have first clean, temperature safety device is cutting off heater and so do not reach the temperature to operate the condenser fun.
    Empty tank also…

    Thanks for the replies.

I’ve given the door filter and consenser (presumably that’s the brick-shaped radiator made of aluminium sheeting that fills up with fluff) a good clean and emptied the water tank, but no difference. No apparent pattern to whether it heats up or not.

I’ll unplug it and check the heater and thermostat connections looking for a loose one. May be lucky. I don’t think it’s worth buying parts unless fairly sure they’d fix it, so if that doesn’t fix it I’m probably off shopping 🙁
