    Hello all,

Long time leaker here after some advise from someone in the know.

We have a Miele TwinDos washing machine WKR 771 WPS which we love and is by far the best washing machine we have owned; however we have a conundrum.

We have started to use Persil Small and Mighty liquid in the TwinDos system as it is better than the Miele UltraPhase 1 detergent. We have been getting great wash results. My question relates to the Miele UltraPhase 2 detergent. We have been using the ones provided when we bought the machine as Miele were running an offer.

My question is, can we use 35{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} hydrogen Peroxide in the TwinDos system or would this be too powerful for the machine and cause damage? We have two large containers of the stuff that has been made for automatic dosing systems for commercials washing. The reason for wanting to change from the Miele product is cost as we wash twice a day every day and the cost soon racks up.

If you think 35{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} is too much and might corrode the machine, how much would you dilute the liquid too?

    Many thanks in advance.

Re: Miele TwinDos / Hydrogen Peroxide

    Miele says…

Frequent use of chlorine increases the risk of component damage. The use of agents containing chlorine, such as sodium hypochlorite and chlorine bleach in powder form, can damage the protective upper surface of stainless steel and cause corrosion to components. Factors affecting this are chlorine concentration levels, contact time and temperature. It is therefore advisable to avoid the use of such agents. Oxygen based bleaching agents should be used instead. If, however, chlorine based bleaching agents have to be used for particular types of soiling, then anti-chlorine measures must also be carried out. If this is not done irreparable damage can occur to components in the machine and to laundry.

Anti-chlorine treatment has to be carried out immediately after chlorine bleach has been used. The use of hydrogen peroxide or an oxygen based cleaning or bleaching agent is recommended and the laundry should not be drained in between. With thiosulfate, especially when used with hard water, gypsum can form, which can lead to incrustations on laundry or deposits in the machine. The use of hydrogen peroxide is preferable as it aids the chorline neutralising process. The exact quantity of additives and the treatment temperatures required must be set and tested on site in accordance with the dosage recommendations of the detergent and additive manufacturers. The laundry must also be tested to check whether it contains any active chlorine residues.

    So basically, no.

Re: Miele TwinDos / Hydrogen Peroxide

Hello, not sure if you understand.

I am asking about Hydrogen peroxide which is an oxygen based bleach. Miele use Hydrogen Peroxide in their TwinDos detergent but at a lower concentration. I am asking whether I can use the same chemical as Miele but in a higher concentration.

    Many thanks

Ah okay, not a clue then and I doubt Miele will be too keen to tell you but, they’re the only people that will be able to do so.

    Yes,

Hydrogen Peroxide is great at cleaning and I believe Miele’s TwinDos 2 is around the 15{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} mark…
