Hi, I wondering if anyone else has come across this problem. 30ma rcd circuit trips instantly as soon as I put machine on any hot wash cycle. Works fine in cold rinse/drain cycle.

I first assumed the heater element, but when I tested it is was fine around 24-25 ohms. Did 500v insulation test on each terminal of the element to earth which was clear.

No sign of internal leaks all very dry inside.
I also tried plugging in to a different circuit with same results.
I am now going to have a further look for any chamfering of cables.

    Any ideas would be appreciated

    thanks

Heater relay perhaps? Have a look at the little motor that drives the water diverter on the soap dispenser it would have to run to a position if hot wash is selected and may be causing tripping, most times its a heating element though, quick test would be to disconnect cable off element tape up & see if it still trips.

Thanks Seamy, I was still doubting the heater element, so I put 3-4 litres of water in the drum and re tested the element. It was a dead short on 500v insulation test. I have now replaced element and all is well. (element code 6260481 now superseded by 6260482 2.1kw 230v) lots of cheap ones out there £25-£45 but I got a miele for £68.90 delivered from Germany, it took 3 days.
Tip: easy way to isolate the element, trace the 2 black wires which come up from the main group on the right corner to the plug at the rear top right. Unplug to isolate heater element, if machine works and doesn’t trip then most likely heater element fault.

I hope this helps someone else with the same problem.
