ParticipantHi, my first post, and I’m looking for some sound advice regards my next washer purchase. Currently using a hoover brand which we’ve had for about 3-4yrs but it’s just about had it!
I just replaced the drum bearings a couple of weeks ago, and over the time we’ve had it also replaced a u/s door seal, and broken drum paddles. it’s also got a slight drip from somewhere I cant locate (maybe cracked drum outer) :rolls:
My point, I’m sick of cheapo appliances and it’s time to invest in something that will last more than the 3/4 years we usually get from a washer/dryer/kettle blah blah blah…
I’ve been looking at the Miele brand, especially after reading which magazine best buys, and other reviews. While investigating the miele’s someone posted on a review somewhere about ISE washers. I’d never heard of these, but after looking them up i’m pretty impressed with what I read 8) so much so that this is now a front runner in my choice.
The wife mentioned the LG direct drive washers, but i read some dodgy rewiews on those 😐
Also, I was bidding on a 6 month old Miele 5928 on ebay but when asking some questions after checking out the sellers feedback, found out he bought & repaired washers, and that this Miele had a replacement heater element fitted (after 6 months :eeek: ) also it had NO warrenty papers :rolls: so that has now popped the “Miele are indestructable” bubble for me 😆I don’t mind spending the money if I know it’s going to last as long as the manufacterers say, and the Miele’s do have a great reputation for quality products, but I cant help thinking that the ISE washer will be the better buy especially after the promise of cheaper spares etc after the warrenty runs out !
I also like the company’s environmental ethics on building to last and not profit orientated.
So….which do I go for ? anyone have experience with the ISE washers ?

Thing is, if most of us here answered it’d be a biased answer. 😉
You won’t find too many here that are big Miele fans, there’s a few of the guys that sell them but, from a service perspective their policies are too restrictive.

Thanks for the reply kwatt, I came home tonight from work to a wife mopping up a flooded kitchen due to our washer not rinsing :rolls:
So thing is, I’m looking to replace it asap. Is the ISE1607 the one you’d recommend to go for ? The wife just wants one with a few basic wash cycles, nothing fancy with loads of gimmicky things that’ll never be used (more things to break down)
I don’t want cheap n nasty washers anymore and my fingers hovering over the “add to cart” button 😆 but just waiting for some assurances that I’m buying a good one 8)November 6, 2011 at 8:41 pm #362563kwatt

In that case, yes the 1607 is perfect.
It’s as simple as simple can be to use, built like a tank and shouldn’t break for a long time. No fancy gimmicks at all, just good engineering.
