ParticipantHi All
I have one of these with a fault. 😥 The machine fills ok then the “rinse” light starts flashing. Put the prog.to spin and it does the same after a couple of secs. Pump works fine. I have checked all the functional parts including associated wiring, all seems fine. Any help would be appreciated. and how do you access the diagnostics on a W863?

Hi
Havent got that info to hand but looking at the WS5425 service manual you may be looking at a motor fault eg brushes, drive etcGreg

Hi Greg
Yep the motor was my first thought “so I whipped it out” :rolls: after checking it out via the loom. Brushes/ armature were fine, continuity ok
BUT I still have a niggling doubt about it under power 😕 as I hear a relay kick in just before the alarm, could also be a traic. I need the diagnostics to confirm especially at the price of the motors and boards 😯

I have had an amp tag burn out on the motor plug and where the front panel hinges, the loom had damage, look carefully 😉Greg

Sent you a PM, be careful when checking drive electronics as board holds up to 400v for a time even after its disconnected. There is a temperature limiter built in to the motor. Desired motor winding at room temperature should be 7 ohms. Check motor tacho, turn motor by hand & you should generate 1 – 3 volts AC. Check tacho against motor frame there should be no continuity, check also between motor plug & frame, also no continuity. Most problems i have are brushes, clean armature & make sure brushes are touching ok, there is a holding device on these as in hotpoint brushes which may prevent them from moving in onto armature. The motor brush holder can all be removed from front of machine without taking complete motor off. Best of luck.

Thanks for everything Seamy. much apreciated. 😉 I forgot to mention customer complained about hearing a “thud” just before alarm started, I will double check the tacho to see what has falled apart ❗

Ok Ok it’s an old thread.
I have one of these Nr.00/49269447 No motor action.
Rinse light flashing. Checked brushes for continuity, fine, but didn’t drag the motor out 😳
Also the inlet check light on although plenty of pressure and fills fast.
Questions
1, is this likely to be the brushes just worn too much? Can they be changed with the motor in situ? What’s the part no. as connect don’t list this model?
1, is the inlet check probably a blocked pressure pot or are the two problems together a bit more sinister?
Thanks in advance

I was you I would get the motor out (bit of a PITA) and check for circuits via the motor plug, all terminals should be in circuit. Not to bad to dismantle once it is out so you can check the armature etc.
good luck

Thanks Mal,
I tested continuity on the motor and all were ok, even the brushes. I think it must come out to check the brushes visually. I was stuck for time on the first visit.
