At the beginning of July I went to the above machine, the error showed the element was open circuit.

I replaced the element and cleaned the pressure chamber which was blocked.

Now 4 months on the element has gone again. I have checked the pressure chamber (and hose) which as I suspected is still clear. When running the machine the there appears to be an intermittent fault with the fill level. Occasionally it appears to under-fill which could explain why the element has gone again.

Does anyone know if there are any issues with the pressure switches on these machines?

I am reluctant to put another element (at £90 a go) in this machine until I have established why it’s failed again!

Some times the electronic level sensor goes off range if pressure chamber is really blocked up and this causes machine to under fill. Level sensor is part of electronic board so only way for non Miele engineers is to fit new electronic. Sounds like you could have this problem.
Part No 4825452 price is about £130.00 plus VAT. They used to be part exchange but they have stopped them.

    Thanks Clayside,

Is there something different a Miele engineer can do?

Just looked at the price if I get it from Connect £195.29 :rolling:

I believe, with the right equipment and software it can be re-callibrated using a laptop. Had a few like this, if you have a blocked air pressure chamber, always check the level afterwards, it barely covers the bottom of the drum when this fault occurs.

The levels appeared to be OK when I left the machine, the customer says this has only started under-filling in the last few weeks whereas the pressure chamber was cleared 4 months ago.

Can’t pressure system can be re calibrated in servie mode?

i am sure i had same problem and it was the top breather hose that was blocked causing it to underfill.

Thanks Mike, I think you could have been right, I went back a took another look and sure enough, where the vent fits to the tub it was blocked up.

I cleared the blockage and filled the machine about 10 times and the fill level appeared to remain constant.

In service mode you can increase water level, think you can recalibrate level sensor also but this may only be possible via laptop.
After water is pumped out of machine and levels drop below say 5mm level sensor assumes this as zero, so over time it can go out of sync.
Isn’t there a breather tube also from soap drawer to tub hose, which goes (via Y piece) to top of outlet drain manifold, i’d think both would need to be blocked to cause problem discussed.
From memory on those machines there are 3 steps to be met, 8mm of water has to be in machine inside 45secs, 50mm is first level, then after a few tumbles a recalculation is taken to allow for soakage and more water is introduced if needed up to a level of 180mm depending on the programme selected. Heater should not be switched on unless level is made and should be shut off if level goes low.

I’ve had a few pressure vessels blocked also once or twice came across welding contacts on heating relay.
These relays if you check are fed directly from supply before the on/off button. 👿
