ParticipantJust completed some repairs on my Miele WT2670 washer dryer, do passing this info on in case it is useful.
1. Machine tripped the house electrics when switched on. Heavily corroded water heater leaking to earth, can be replaced from the front without moving the machine. Drain the machine before replacing and once replaced, run several hot washes with two or three Calgon tablets to de-scale. Note the red wire attached to one of the earth tabs, this used by the humidity detector, see later. Use washing up liquid to lubricate the rubber seal into place, and manually fill the drum until the water is visible to check for leaks before putting the front of the machine back on.
2. Intermittent operation turned out to be a bad relay on the circuit board at the top of the machine. I bought a replacement board on eBay for £30, £330 from Miele and I also fixed the failed board by replacing the failing white relay, 12v coil, single pole 16A contacts, available from RS Components, about £12. Needs good soldering skills, use solder wick and gently ease it out.
3. I took the door apart to clean it. The metal plate on the back is part of the humidity sensor and the electronics detects continuity from this plate through the damp laundry to the grounded drum. On the circuit board, there’s a connector with red and white wires. Red goes to the ground tab by the heater, white goes to the door latch and a black wire in the door black decorative panel connects to the metal plate. With a meter, you should see continuity from the connector (red) to the drum, from the connector (white) to the door release latch probed from the front and from the door mounted catch to the metal plate on the back of the door.
Without this, the machine won’t see any moisture and no automatic drying.
