ParticipantI need to replace my 8 year old Siemens washing machine, the bearings have gone.
I have been swayed to buy a Miele because they have currently got a free 10 year washing machine guarantee on a particular model. I checked the terms & conditions. It doesn’t cover replacement parts subject to wear & tear, e.g. filters
What other parts are subject to wear & tear that Miele isn’t like to cover on their extended warranty?
Is it worth the paper its written on?
Thank you

Hi
I always look upon it as anything cosmetic or a user part such as the filter and other things like the soap dispenser unless it develops a fault which is unlikely will probably not be covered.
Bearings I would say yes as long as the machine has not been abused, pumps as long as there is no evidence of misuse ie a hair grip or other foreign body stopping it from working.
I could be right with this or wrong by a mile.
If you want to find out it does say on the guarantee exclusions to contact them. Contact page here Let us know what reply you get as it may help others in the future.

Hi Don,
I registered my new washing machine on Miele’s website for the 10 year warranty.
They emailed me the certificate & its all in German! Still none the wiser as to their terms & conditions. Oh well…On the + side its sooo quiet. You can’t hear the machine running, just a trickle of water as the drum rotates. Cleans incredibly well too – probably on a par with my old Siemens for cleaning power.

Just thought I would jump in here as we have just registered our 10 year warranty with Miele. The warranty is actually covered by Domestic & General and doens’t cover cosmetic and accidental damage but does cover any machine breakdown.
On our last Miele washing machine we had the service engineer out twice, one for a seal that was leaking and one for the light in the machine which had broken. Both times a Miele enineer came and fixed the problem. I am told that outside of the two year warranty, Miele will actually bill D&G for the engineer visit.
Hope this helps, I have a copy of the T&Cs in English and they can actually be found on the Miele website.
