Miele WT270 Washer Dryer Stopped Drying – Thermostat Reset?

Hi my Miele WT270 Washer Dryer has stopped drying. The washing cycles work fine but the drying cycle doesn’t get hot and fails with code Technical fault 55 call service.

An Miele Engineer costs an incredible £125 per hour plus £75 each additional hour plus parts 😮 so I want to try and fix it myself.

I am told this error is often just the thermostat that needs resetting.

Can anyone advise me where to find this switch and what size torx screwdriver I need to open the lid? I’d be really grateful to any advice you can give me 🙂

to open most lids you need a torx 20 driver. If it has a resettable stat it will be on thr dryer duct where the heater is. on a lot of machines its at the top

if it resets fine but if it trips again it is probably getting blocked with fluff

there are independent engineers who will look at miele machines

Miele callouts- as well as being expensive, are taking several weeks right now. You wait for hours to get a response on the phone (to the point that they now suggest you put the phone on speaker and grab a coffee!). I start to wonder if their new stuff is all failing (ours has been far from reliable), and they just cannot keep up with the repair workload. Good luck getting yours fixed – for others considering paying extra for Miele quality – I would think again. It ain’t what it used to be, you are better buying a Bosch and replacing it every 4-5 years.
