I’ve just replaced the shocks on my venerable (20 years+) WT945. The failed ones had allowed the drum to move around so much that a wire leading to the temperature sensor on the dryer heater box had snapped off, leading to the machine shutting down every time it got to the drying cycle.

The new shocks have restored stability enormously, I guess they were gradually failing and I just never noticed.

However, I still have a separate problem in that although the machine runs the drying cycle it always displays the dryer overload light (flashing). It does this whatever the load; I’ve tried many times with varying loads from 1Kg to over 2Kg, each time with the same result.

At a guess I’m thinking the machine’s drying for a certain amount of time before deciding the moisture sensor plate on the glass door isn’t reporting any change in moisture, but I’ve no idea where to go from here.

Pulling the machine out to work on it is quite the task (these things are heavy and built like tanks!) so before opening it up again I wondered if anyone would have any pointers where to look?

    Cheers 🙂

usually poor air flow, the drying fan and /or its ducting channel are probably after 20 years, linted up . Awkward job stripping it to clean and some of the screws that hold the ducting together may be seized in by now…
