ParticipantHi,
Got a mile premier 500 ( W842 Series) the drain pump keeps running on after the wash has finished, any ideas? When the machine gets to the anti crease light and the motor of the pump runs on a bit before turning off, this one keeps running and running and running! as tho the machine is frozen in its last few minutes before turning off. This makes a cycle last a very long time. the clothes seem to be drained ok,but the drain pump cycle lasts for ages.
Any body help me?June 29, 2013 at 9:38 pm #397041Muv

Does it only run on after the main wash water has drained away? Or after every rinse cycle as well?

Seems to do it on all cycles, but sometimes it appears to be ok! it’s a bit difficult to explain,as you have got a humming sound when the pump is actually draining, and although sometimes it seemed a littler louder, now it appears ok. you have also got a motor type different sound just as the cycle has finished, immediately before it goes into anti crease mode. this is a similar sound to when you turn it on and start a cycle, all be it only for a few seconds. it’s this that sometimes just keeps going on and never stopping.
Lastly we have noticed the excess detergent light comes on more frequently now, although with little detergent being used. very weird!June 30, 2013 at 7:36 pm #397043Muv

Obvios place to start looking is the removable fluff filter..check for any blockages ..
Also try it on a drain only cycle with the filter removed and look at the impellor and check for smooth running …
Fingers well away!Martin

Thanks for your reply,
Where’s the fluff filter?
The is a circular large screwed plug, which I have undone and although a bit caked up with soapy gundge,it’s clear in there.
Is it at the bottom, where the rectangle cover is?
I’ve had that out and cleaned behind it, the impeller directly behind that turns ok by hand.June 30, 2013 at 10:47 pm #397045Muv

Yes, thats the fluff filter that you have removed, if thats clean then you need to remove the actual end of the waste water pipe from wherever it is attached, and see that there is a good flow of water coming from it during the pump out.. If that is clear then you may have a partial blockage in the waste pipe itself…if that all checks out then your final step is to remove the front of the machine and remove and clean out the pressure vessel…see how you get on with the other steps first…as to clean the vessel means removal of the front panel of the machine!

OK,I think I can do that!
I’m not going to be able to do that, till the week end though,as I’m on my own with a 5 year old and he will have his fingers in every where!
In the mean time, let’s hope the machine still keeps plugging away!!!!!!
Thanks again for your help.
I’ll reply soon.July 3, 2013 at 6:59 pm #397047Seamy

Is there a flood protection in this one? Wondering if that would cause fault described if float is making only now & again.

update :
Was still using machine until today, finished wash on 40 degrees and machine drained ok. got funny smell from machine. now when you put it on machine seems to work, but when in drain mode, pre wash light flashes, anti crease light on all the time and it doesn’t seem to drain.
What’s your thoughts please?
Drain pump gone????????July 6, 2013 at 2:49 pm #397050Kidkool

update update!
Took off waste pipes and ( there are two cos it’s been extended ) they were completely blocked with caked soapy hard grunge .
Finally got it all back together pipes clear and the anti crease and blinking soak/prewash still comes on straight away in separate rinse mode. and drain/ final spin,if you put the machine there straight away.
What do you now think the problem is?July 6, 2013 at 5:12 pm #397051Muv

Try putting the knob to the “finish” setting, then knock the power off for a few minutes…then try again.. If this works then try a service wash to flush out the waste pipes etc. set at hottest wash with detergent, and without clothes

ok will do.
Just one thing, turned machine back on this evening, just now in fact ,put the machine into rinse, without clothes and it filled and drained ok. completed cycle in fact. I’m getting excited now!!
40 degree wash is in,bit late for the no clothes and hot wash, but will do after this finishes.
Thanks for the advice Muv.July 7, 2013 at 9:02 am #397053Kidkool

Had check drain light come on again this morning, still seems to freeze with some sort of motor running,in between different parts of a main wash. just finished main wash and check drain light was on. clothes wet and had not spun. put back into drain and spin cycle. machine started ie some sort of motor started ( not pump motor the noise just as you press the start button, the machine then didn’t spin or drain and finished with check drain light on. could the pump be blocked up,when I checked it it did turn freely. but there was an awful full lot of caked up soap in the waste pipes,I could even flush it thro in situ with a hose pipe, they had to be removed and banged and hosed to clean them that way. what about after the pump, before the waste pipe on the machine, could this area be blocked a bit. I’ve seen and heard the machine run thro a cycle already this morning,so I know it does drain properly. this was a heavy load though, bit annoying really.

Right I’ve sat in front of machine and this is what happens in separate rinse.
machine fills ok rotates a little then fills a bit more just like normal, empties fine pump works ok and rotates a bit more just like normal fills and repeats as before drains again fine leaving machine to go in to spin.
Machine doesn’t spin at full speed just rotates slowly and eventually anti crease light comes on and check inlet and check drain lights come on!
