    Hello all.

I have one of these frost-free Hotpoint models.

The fridge part got progressively warmer to +24 and did not cool down again.

After extensive reading posts in this forum I started by looking at the vent at the bottom of the machine which was thick with dust. Having cleaned that out and it not making any difference I read that they could frost up and indeed there was frost build up in the freezer compartment on the back panel so I let that defrost – the problem persisted.

Lots of talk about the thermistor, it’s connections and the fan in the forum so I take off the panel in the freezer compartment and find the thermistor connections are good and firm. I power up the unit and the fan spins after a few seconds and then stops again. “OK” I think, it’s the fan or something controlling it. I disconnect the yellow thermistor connection and the fan now keeps spinning after power on. So – I recon it’s either the yellow thermistor or the controller. I’m plumping for the thermistor. What do folk think? Is my thinking valid?

If so, how to change the thermistor in an FF72P? I can’t see where it disappears off to, I assume it goes up a tube into the fridge bit somewhere. I don’t want to do any damage to what seems some fairly delicate cooling bits in the area!

Would really be grateful for any tips!

The new thermistor fixed it! £20!
