Pretty much given up on this one! Usual problem, warm fridge. Reason – fan not running. No error codes, the door switch is OK and the fan runs OK on the test sequence which eliminates the motor, wiring and control electronics. Checked the fridge thermistor and it seemed OK registering temperature change on the display but replaced it anyway out of desperation but no difference. The freezer is fine at -22 and seems to defrost OK.
The only thing that i can think of is that the module is not registering a door closed situation even though the switch is OK and the light goes off ie. the electronics do not sense the closed switch.
Mmmmmm!

Had an 8596 do similar. Fan not running thermistor replaced. The usual easy repair i thought. was still there 2 hrs later. Froze thermistor using pipe freezer spray saw Evap fan kick once for a second. Cust wrote it off.
There isnt a batch of faulty thermistors going about is there?S.

All the thermistors seem OK and respond to temp change. Also defrost cycle is OK would’nt the evap therm affect defrosting?
What makes you say it is this Dave please?

The evap thermistor turns the fan on when the evap reaches -10C (I think the temp is correct), it’s a very common failure 🙂

I fitted a new thermistor five days ago and it seems OK. Thanks very much for that Dave, much appreciated 😀
I still don’t know why it was still defrosting OK though, every other faulty evap thermistor i have come across affected the defrost and blocked the evaporator. Which is why i discounted the possiblity.
Maybe it is possible for only part of the temperature range to be affected on a thermistor?
Andy 😀
