KeymasterMy mothers freezer,(Fridgidaire EKC/084)has stopped working.
On inspection I have found a part which I believe may be called the relay (it has all the electrical connectors on it and plugs into the motor) has melted at the top and it smells quite offensive.
Would replacing this part solve the problem or should I be looking at why it blew in the first place?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

A replacement Relay is well worth obtaining as it may be that it either died of old age or (if it has a water tray on top of the compressor) water could have leaked down onto it and caused it to expire ❓

I can get the relay for you most likely Ray but that isn’t a Frigidaire model number, it’s more like a Whirlpool one.
Can you double check please and also the make/type on the compressor (motor).
Thanks.
Dave.

I have a little more info to help with identification.
Taken from inside the freezer….Frigidaire Elite…Type ZOS 210….Model FVE 2192. and finally on the motor which the relay plugs into FR7.5A……..-10282/0-7….
Hope this means more to you than it does to me.

Ah, that’s easy then, it’s a Danfoss compressor and not an uncommon occurance 🙂
There should be a number on the start device (relay), something like 103N0015 if you can read it ??

Well done Dave….it says Danfoss on the back but there is no number maybe because the top half has burnt.
Where do I go from here?

I thought perhaps it may have burnt the numbers off, are you able to take a photo of the side where all the leads connect and email it to me please ?
These are fairly universal I just want to make sure the connections are the same 🙂
