A work colleague of my wife had an email three weeks ago. She opened it and in spite of the fact it didn’t contain any attachment the scumbag who sent it was able to hack into her PC. He logged on to her on-line bank account and transferred all her money to a bank account in Namibia.
Her bank is investigating but cannot guarantee that any of her money will either be recovered or re-claimable. (We are talking several thousand pounds here and she is gutted to say the least). The company she works for have given her a ‘bridging loan’ to see her through, so at least someone cares, unlike her bank who simply didn’t want to know. 👿
Do please beware of all emails you do not recognise. Firewalls, filters and the like are no barrier to these guys. Those of us that do participate in on-line banking best heed these warnings or pay a heavy price……!
