The market leaders in pattern pumps is Askoll and Plaset and as a rule both are very reliable overall. However there are others out there that for all the world look just like the much loved leaders but are in fact not at all reliable.

I refer in this instance to one such product that is in fact un-branded though is often marked “DRAIN PUMP PSB-01” and proudly shows the CE and TÜV European safety certification.

Within a very short period and often within a few months the impellor falls off – guaranteed!

Has anybody else out there come across this brand and phenomenon?

Yes Martin, I remember discussing this a couple of years ago when I had this problem with low cost Bosch pattern pumps.
I unscrew them from the housing, stick them in the bin where they belong and fit a Hanning pump with confidence it’ll do the job intended.

    remember this?

Now you come to mention it Bryan I do recall and Bosch pattern pumps feature highly in this case. Namely Qualtex PMP244 pumps as it happens as well as the Hoover/Candy wash pump. Thanks for the reminder by the way! 🙂
