By being self employed with a huge mortgage, mouths to feed and a phone ringing off the hook!
Aside from that I don’t understand the question? What further motivation would anyone need in my position?
Whats your problem streetlighter, tell all!

Solution.
Take one week off.
Find large cold marble slab.
Sit on said slab for duration of week.
Go home, and wait …….Piles.
No motivation but they sure get you off your arse.
Believe me! 🙁April 14, 2004 at 5:35 pm #110733Dave_Conway

What about the reason you probably got in to this trade in the first place………..making something that didn’t work – work.
And you get to meet lots of new people, some nice 😀 some downright hideous 😥
Also don’t forget if you have no new tales, technical questions, spares problems etc you won’t be able to post anything new on UKW, motivation enough on it’s own there eh ? 😉

KeymasterTry two young kids that seem determined to keep you awake at night and appear to see this as a tag-team event. A website to run that eats time. A business to run that eats time. Conference calls till the wee small hours. Meetings around the country every few weeks. Customer’s bursting your head about things that have sod all to do with you. Engineers that think vans double as dodgems. An average of over 300 emails a day to read and no time to watch 45 minutes of TV a day.
Then get up in the morning and find the motivation and get back to it after your generous 6 hours of sleep. 😕
But there’s always someone that has it worse. I actually told the missus that what I wanted for Christmas was to be bored with nothing to do, just for a few hours…
Santa bloody well cheated me on that one! 😆

I hate to say this, but this smacks more of depression to me.
The weather is good, and the opportunities are out there to be taken. You can’t go on forever sitting around and playing boys games. One day your wife will get wise to the fact she is out earning and you are sitting about at home. You need to be a player in the household and put something in.
Sorry to sound blunt, but that is the way I see it. You need to restore some pride in yourself, and the best way to go about it is to get out there, integrate with society and make yourself feel worthwhile. It is a tragic waste of your skills if you let it slip through your fingers.

Seems to me that streetlighter is finding that being a ‘kept man’ 😉 is none too fulfilling a lifstyle. When he does spring into life he is no stranger to hard graft as he is not frightened to work in the evenings (something I have NEVER done). Proves to me he can and does have a certain ‘get up and go’ which is fine.
Fishing, Playstations and all the other mind numbing activities he has sampled, which will bore anyone to death in no time at all anyway. 😥
No, my advice (using Del’s nomenclature “Therapy Corner”) is stick to 8 jobs a day, starting around 8am. and spend the afternoon fishing (in season) or on the golf course. Home in time for tea!
Who takes the kids to and from school and cooks the evening meal I hear you ask?………..Why THE NANNY of course! 😉
Keep smilin’
