I have been trying to repair my washing machine, a BEKO WM7247W, despite being quite a few years old it was still going strong.
The motor got a bit louder on a wash but still completed, on a fast spin program afterwards about 2 minutes in it made a loud fizz sound (can be heard on the video I recorded https://youtu.be/hq-ZR4-Ql1A) and a minute after blew the RCD. Everytine at the same point.
Although the commutator has a grove the brushes have plenty of life as they were changed last year. All readings between brushes and windings read normal on a multimeter.
The DC module was black and covered in carbon dust, so didn’t loom in a great shape so swapped that out with a new one, started a normal cycle and around 5 minutes in with filling, heating and slow spinning, flash and pop again. Same thing again on a no load fast spin only.

Now the motor has been replaced, switched on, start a fast spin cycle and within 30 seconds of a few rotations although didn’t sound right (sounded like belt was loose and spinning although it wasn’t) a flash from under the new motor and RCD trips. Now at a complete loss, I’ve taken the front PCB off for inspecting and nothing visually at fault, relay continuity and diodes aren’t leaking voltage (not a electrical engineer I’m afraid but know what should and shouldn’t be doing stuff).

Any other ideas or things to prod at? Already looking at new machines but don’t want to admit defeat just yet

What is the state of the wiring harness like? Could be bare wires shorting against the cabinet?
