ParticipantI need a motor for a Hotpoint WT540/1P On the motor it states it an ACC 160020018.02
When i google this motor for this machine i come across different part numbers for the motor
On one website the part number and the motor was called a FHF 1605483
and it stated it would fit my machine
On the same site was another motor with a different part number C00145609 which also fits the machine.
link belowhttp://www.hotpoint-spares.co.uk/washing-machines-wt5401p-c-6217_7032.html?page=4&sort=2aWhat is the difference between these motors and which one do i need?

Hi Paul,
Do you have the serial number of the machine?
Even with that sometimes you have to actually look see what’s in it to be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure as it’s an Indesit really and they change stuff on a whim at times.
I’m also quite sure we’d do a better price, but that’s an aside. 😉

A bit of a minefield, some have a CESET motor, some an FHP motor.
Two different CESET motors with either a 45mm or a 52mm coil stack measured across the laminations.
None of these motors are interchangable unless you rewrite the eeprom.
You seem to have a lot of motor problems, one for a WMA9, one for a Bosch and now this one all in the space of a few days. 😕

the serial number is coo267694

The serial number will not allow us to identify the motor on these sadly, only looking at the motor and if it is a CESET, measuring the coil stack will identify the exact motor.
As I have previously stated you can only interchange motors if you re write the eeprom.

What is the difference between a CESET and a FHP motor?
What is meant by
45mm or a 52mm coil stack measured across the laminations?
Are most washing machine engineers able to re write the eeprom and if i wanted to do this myself what will i need?
I use to repair washing machine many years age and its a totally different with modern machines
I manage to find a motor in the local scrap yard it looks the same as the one in my machine as the same serial number
Is it worth giving this ago?
Thanks for your helpApril 16, 2011 at 11:11 am #349367iadom

The CESET motor is made by CESET and the FHP motor is made by FHP, this should be on the label. The FHP motor may have AEG on it though.
The coil stack is the set of main motor windings, you can see the laminations in the middle of the motor between the motor end caps.
Most engineers cannot re write the eeproms, you need the dedicated software from the Indesit Company, they will not supply this to the independent trade.
You can re write an eeprom by getting a ‘one use only’ £12 smart card and a £90+ card reader. As I have already mentioned the serial number is of no use in identifying the motor, it has to be the same make and if the motor is a CESET, the same size.

When you referr to the measurment of the laminations is it form the bottom of the lamination to the top of the lamination? or the gap betwwen both laminations where the armiture sits
Do you have to find out the size of the laminations when replacing all indesit motors

Basically it is the gap between the two alloy motor end caps.
These motors are fitted to lots of machines, you just need access to the parts information to know which is which.

how do i get access to the parts information?

You pay the Indesit Company £65 to £70 every six to eight months for the software.
