    Hi,

    Please can someone advise me.

My LAV72600 motor started making a strange noise and losing power, on investigation I found that one of the copper segments of the commutator is raised about 0.5mm and there is obvious signs of sparking damage around it.

I think it is beyond grinding smooth again!

A new motor is nearly £200 but I noticed that some other manufacturers supply new armatures for their motors, but didn’t find these for AEG motors.

Can someone advise me if armatures are available for AEG motors type “ME 004”?
    Or, replacement – reconditioned motors?

I am not “in the trade” but have an electronics degree and feel very happy with this sort of repair if I can get the parts!!

    Thanks in advance,

    Timbo.

Very unlucky Tim, the only spares for this motor are the carbon brushes. Sorry.

    Hi,

Many thanks for the quick reply. I suspected this may be case since the motor case bolts have special shaped heads.

I will have to change the whole motor, which I can find online, expensive, but the rest of machine appears as good as new despite 1000’s washes over 10 years. I doubt a recent manufactered machine would last the same without spending £500 +.

Thanks for your help and for operating an excellent, polite forum.

    Timbo.

You might like to drop spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk a line and ask for a price on 8996454308-02/5. It is an expensive motor, but UKW prices tend to knock spots off the likes of eSpares and the rest……. 😀
