My dear old mum’s Hotpoint WF541 seems to have had a bit of a mental breakdown ! I’ve had a quick look at it and it’s flashing all kinds of combinations of LEDs – and it’s different each time you switch the power on. I’ve searched the forum and found a couple of references to error codes on this machine, but with it apparently being a bit schizophrenic, is it safe to assume that the main logic board has gone ?

I’m just about to go over there and see if I can clean up the connections to the PCB and re-flow the solder on the surface mount CPU – but I’m not hopeful.

Does anyone know of a definitive list of error codes for these machines please ?

It’s only about 18 months old by all accounts.

She’s intending to chuck it and buy a new Bosch instead, but if I can save her a few quid by fixing it, that would be great.

    Cheers !

In that case it is covered by Hotpoint’s 5 year parts guarantee, so best not touch it if you want to take advantage of that.

Your old mum is one smart cookie and no mistake. If all else fails you tell her to live the dream and buy a decent ‘mid-range Bosch… 😀
