My Candy built in oven has just stopped working.

I have a Candy built in oven model FPE409/6X and it has just stopped working. There is power to the screen and I’m able to set the clock but when I try to turn it on nothing happens. The light on the front panel does not come on, the internal light doesn’t come on, the fan doesn’t come on and the oven doesn’t heat obviously. It did this last week and after turning the knobs on and off a few times it started working but has now stopped again. I’m 69 and really can’t afford to buy a new oven if I can help it so I’m hoping this might be something simple that I can sort myself. By the way it’s not the child lock function as the word stop does not appear on the clock.

sounds like a selector problem

have you got the serial no ?

look up part no 41003026 on google

this is the switch behind the right hand knob

open oven and look for burnt contacts

its only going to be the clock or this switch and since you said you turned the knob and it came on my money is on faulty switch

Or, it could be on auto as that’s pretty much what it’d do if it was.

well you could try
turn it off at the wall for 5 min, then when you turn on again you will normally have to reset the time

if it was the clock oven should work normally now

when fit the switch, take photo’s before and do it one wire at a time

wont do any harm to take the top off and look at the switch and look for burning wires. if they are discoloured its better to change it before it destroys the wire connections
if it has you will have to cut the wores back to clean copper and fit new connectors
