ParticipantAnyone heard of this outfit?

They have phoned us twice today trying to tempt us to join their network, and I have been conveniently out the office.
I smell a rat.

Just for the record⦠Nope!
Not sure if it is something to do with being old and suspicious but I detect a distinct rodent aroma in the air. Keep us informed with any follow up.January 4, 2007 at 9:25 pm #199535kwatt
KeymasterHaving looked at it Alex I’d have to say I smell something, not sure if it’s to do with bulls or rats though.

They told my office there were to do with Currys. Doesn’t show that on their site, and if you go their partner site via one of the links, http://www.thenationaltraderegister.co. … rships.php they list who they are affiliated to.
Yet if you look, there are no names on there.
If they come back I shall quote I’m on the Telephone Preference list.

I had the same call today and was going to post to the forum but you beat me to it.
My first impression is not so suspicious but `need to be convinced`.
The lady I talked to was not very well picked or groomed if she was out to con me. She came across like my gran – I may eat these words π . She started off using a script but we soon fell into a casual conversation.
I was informed that they are partnering with Curry`s to connect appliances and to do`out of IG` work. We choose what to charge and they charge us a {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}.
The initial call was to make contact, see if I was interested and to then make an appointment for one of their managers to call and go into further detail.
If you want to test them out try using their facilities for an initial enquiry for a need you pretend to have.
Try a Whois info search: http://www.whois-search.com/ and enter myhomeconnect.com they seem to list the website designer – I think – as creospace.co.uk. Could always give him a call.

I also had a call left on my machine when I returned from holiday.Didnβt even think of calling them back due to work load and reading many previous threads on this forum about this type of operation. I happen to know the where this outfit is based, Many small units on an old factory site in the hart of Essex chavland. Be carefull.

Ah, that’s who it was then.
They phoned me yesterday as well, the guy definitely said he was from Currys though. They are getting the numbers from Thompson Local π
I only know this as I asked where they got the number from, it seems I am listed as an engineer in the wrong category π

Just had a conversation with Louise who declined to answer any questions, would not entertain mailing or faxing any details. For any further info I should require I should look at the website.
All she was interested in was to arrange for a meeting with a business manager. Her parting shot was “here is my direct number to arrange a meeting”.

Hi folks,
This is the OFFICIAL position from the Dixons Stores Group (DSG) who own the Currys stores and brand names.
DSG wrote:OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM CURRYS
Please note that myhomeconnect has NO authority to use our name in any context, whether to recruit members or otherwise. There is no arrangement in place between Currys and myhomeconnect relating to installation or repair services, nor will there be in the future.
As is perfectly clear, this is not a Currys endorsed program.

Just been having a look at their website and tried using the ‘Branch Locator’ facility, where you put in your postcode for the details of the nearest branch π . Whatever postcode you put in [in different parts of the country] the same phone no. comes up π , and after about four goes it stops working π― !
Those of us who’ve been in this business for 20 years have seen loads of different schemes like this come and go :rolls: . They’ve all got one thing in common; none of them works π .

Seems they sell franchises as well if anyone’s interested although I’ve a sneaking suspicion that they won’t be registered as a pukka franchise opportunity somehow. π

myhomeconnect-cleveland.net – Mirror of above
myhomeconnect.com
myhomeconnect.info – Good one this. π
myhomeconnect.net – Same as .info
myhomeconnect-lambeth.net – Methinks there’s some images pinched from a certain retailer on this one. π

I got bored at this stage and couldn’t be bothered to do anymore lookups.
