No brushes, its an induction motor.
When you turn it to tumble, can you hear a low hum??Greg

hi m8 thanks for your reply, it sounds as if it is working ie the usual humming noise and it is heating up but the drum will not turn, i have put my hand inside the dryer and tried to turn the drum myself but it wont budge, so is it likely to be prob with the motor? 😯

Could be motor or some clothing gone into fan housing and has fouled the fan.
Un plug appliance before proceeding :plug:Greg

Turning a large diameter drum by hand that in turn turns a tiny motor pulley with a fan on the end via a belt would see some resistance 😉
If it isn’t the capacitor I’ll eat Sean 😯
But not in one sitting 😆

Drum sheared off spider perhaps? That’ll jam it for sure……. Check the centre of the drum for damage.
We could probably scoff Sean between the three of us – gravy, 2 veg, roast potatoes………
Make a change from fish, anyway 😀 .

cc when you try to turn the drum by hand is it jammed or is it moving but slowly
if it is jammed then it is going to be either drum support and back snapped
something blocking the fan from turning therefore stopping the whole thing
if it does turn slowly by hand then it will be the capaciter and you aslready know where to get one of those
in my experience capaciter almost every timeAugust 21, 2006 at 1:58 pm #185874cc
