my whirlpool 4502/5 start is flashing

Its flashes 8 times then pause? The pump kicks I n but no water why is this?

More than likely the pressure switch is stuck and it thinks it has water in the sump – as you look in the sump there is a black mesh – give it a good scrub out with a washing up brush and warm water and try again
