I have a Zanussi FJS1425 (Jetstream 1400). I close the door and set the wash options then click start. The door sounds like it locks like normal, but then tries again and comes up with the E40 error.

There’s nothing stuck in the door and it’s not over weighted.

    Any ideas?? Thanks

E40 usually means the door is not locking so therefore a new Door Interlock (Part No: 1249675123- cost about £25) may be needed I expect.

Check the door striker carefully also in case it is not engaging and that the door seal is even and seating correctly against the glass.

    Martin,
I may need to go there, but is it something I can atke apart and do myself?

Also there’s a white coin turn thing on the door below the lock. It looks like a childproof selector, but it either stays in permamnently or when sticking out, it is sprung loaded and goes in whe the door is closed. What is this?

    Cheers

If it is, well it doesn’t seem to do that as the door closes either way
