ParticipantWe just inherited a Hoover WDM130 (Six express), we think from it’s condition that it’s about 2-3 years old, but it looks very new. Is there a way of telling the age? (there are some number after the serial # behind the door, do any of these refer to DOM?)
We haven’t got a user manual, but it’s a washing machine not a 747, so it’s not hard to drive. (Is Hoover the only manufacturer that doesn’t supply downloadable user manuals?)
We noticed a few things compare to our old Hotpoint MW65, which may or may not be a problem. So before we waste some cash by calling someone out to look at perfectly good machine, I thought I’d post here for some comments/advice
With the WDM130 on a normal 40C wash it never seems to feed from the hot supply; it takes while for hot water to run from our kitchen tap unless we had the washing machine (Hotpoint) on, when it was instant. With the WDM130 the hot tap stays cold, thus the washing machine hasn’t been feeding from the hot supply. Is this normal ❓
I’ve done a test 90C wash and the machine takes hot water from the hot water supply, this was done by feeling the hot water intake pipe of the machine. Also in periods of inactivity the machine make a humming/ticking sound in the area of the wash selection dial, the sound is akin to that made by a small diaphragm air pump as used in topical fish tanks. Is this normal ❓
Other than these features it seems to do the job, and much quieter than the Hotpoint, especially on spin cycles

Phil,
All pretty normal activity going on with your machine.
Taking cold rather than hot is very normal and the odd sounds you hear during the wash is the wash pump recycling the water.
As to its age? Take a look at the rear panel and the first 8 digits beginning with 3 are the model code and the next 4 digits shown after that are the year and the week number in that year it was made 😉

Thanks Martin,
( 😳 meant to post thanks earlier, but life got in the way)
You put our minds to rest, and our old hotpoint can be reunited with the rental comapny.
thanks again
