ParticipantHi all, this machine (Ariston AWD12 S UK) has been posing a problem for a couple of weeks now, anyone have any ideas that have not been tried already?
The story so far.
Original call was the usual selector switch continually rotating.
Set machine on a spin and sure enough erratic behaviour of the selector.
Usual tests, both thermistors within limits, insulation test on motor and heater, checked motor carbons, decided to send board to EMW for repair assuming no other fault had caused damage to PCB.
Board repaired and returned to me within a couple of days (thanks Tony), refitted and tested on rinse and spin, worked fine, took money and ran.
I was forgetting the MSL (Merloni Sods Law factor).
Two days later after only one wash customer reported same fault.
Called out, machine worked fine “If it does it again give me a call and I’ll take it to my workshop”
Sure enough customer calls again, machine now in workshop.
Set machine on No: 4 wash and let it do its thing. Fault occurred 1 out of 4 times. (Didn’t actually see what machine was doing when it aborted)
Noticed when it did work ok that the selector was just short of the off position (between clicks)
Checked all the usual again, connectors on PCB, made sure they were all tight, changed carbons, scratching head now.
Phoned Tony at EMW, said they had one there that was a problem and turned out to be pressure switch, suggested I send PCB and PS to them for testing.
Dually obliged and also sent Selector Switch. They were returned next day, (Thanks again Tony) no fault found, scratching head a bit more vigorously now.
Fitted a new motor, still aborting occasionally.
Sat over machine today and watched each step. It seems that the machine will do a complete wash ok but (sometimes) after a few seconds when in the off position the Selector will magically decide to rotate off its own bat. Starting to loose interest and scratching bum now ……..
Not one to give up although I’m into negative equity with this little dear, can anyone point me in a direction that doesn’t include the local recycling tip?
Thanks……. Tony
PS: Take the advice of Microsoft, when doing a spell check it cant find the word ARISTON and suggests ARSON …… or ignore, ignore all, change or change all. All are good.May 12, 2006 at 12:21 am #176229Penguin45
ParticipantRe: Mystery
If it starts clunking round, the I/O light should be flashing a pattern as well…. ie 123 – pause – repeat.
That’s an error code and can be found in the post at the top of this forum.
Personally, I hate the bu@@ers.
Cheers,

Thanks for the reply, nope, no error code just the slow flashing to say the machine has finished and door is unlocked…..
Me thinks devine intervention here.
