    Help!
In my kitchen is a mystery damp smell.
It seems to linger around the oven/washing machine/fridge area rather than the dishwasher, but it comes and goes with no real pattern.
Smelling each individual machine doesn’t pinpoint the source and i am at a loss how to pinpoint the problem.
The Smeg fridge has a regular noise problem (v. loud humming), the washing machine is 6 months old and doesn’t seem to have a mildew issue yet, there is no sign of any damp patches behind the sink or washer/dryer (could it be the condenser?)
Anyone who can offer some insight gets a pint!
    many thanks.
    Darren.

    Darren,

    Try…

Of course there are a multitude of other things it could be like a leak from anywhere really or any bacterial smell from any of the appliances, but any would most likely have n external cause.

I assume you have checked visibly for any leaks?

    And you’re pint’s safe, I don’t drink them. 😉 😆

Just don’t leave any of Mr Daniels lying about…

Seriously, there is plenty of info on odours and dealing with them in the forums, downloads and other info sections on the site – check them out.

It is surprising how many of these odour problems end up with the plumbing – the washer and dishwasher are often drained into open pipes, the dishwasher one has low volume of water throughput, modern washers are little better these days. Rather than sniffing the appliances, drag ’em all out and start sniffing round the back. Look for damp areas and discolourations on the floor and perhaps run them all to see if water backs up from the drain pipes.

Good luck, donate any winnings to the Tsunami disaster.

    Regards,
    Penguin45.
