KeymasterWe can’t call e-Jobs just “e-Jobs” on the navigation panel as no-one would have a clue what it was so what are we to call it?
“Find An Engineer”
“Book An Engineer”
“Log A Repair”
It has to be short and descriptive, any ideas?

“Need a repair ?” or “Book a repair”
Presumably the link would then take the potential customer to a page with more descripitive information.
I can see a possibility of the directories and e-jobs getting confused as well, maybe a radical move but ask all the directory entries if they want to be automatically addded to e-jobs, removing the need for them at all or a direct link from every directory entry to the e-jobs page ?

I think we should have a box the same size of the “shop@” one underneath the shop one ..on the front page.
So those who see the shop@ also see the “UKWrepaiman” advert with a link to ejobs and not the directories. Those in the directories should not be added to the ejobs unless they apply like the rest of us have…..
Oh and call it …..UKW@home…..or UKWinhome

Yep, thats what I meant, but ask them to apply as they have already made the effort to have their details added to the directory.

Why ? Put yourself in the mind of the public, if they are looking for a repair solution and they see “need a repair?” or “UKW-Repairman” or similar it will attract them surely ?

Why are the best answers always the blindingly obvious, yep, I’d go along with that 😀

ParticipantOr even “Fix@….. ” – Shorter the better (No, I’m not talking about myself…) and more easily remembered.

KeymasterRe: Names!
Well, I dunno that’s what I thought of doing because it looks right next to Shop@ and Reviews@ which you’d find on the front page of the reviews. It just kinda stays with the theme if you like and the addition of the “@” symbol is largely associated with the internet these days so, to me, it makes sense,
But after all the whining the last time I did shit carte blanche (from Martin ) I thought I’d ask. 😉

Well if it’s going to be a block like the shop@ one that has descriptive text under it then it’s not as important as I first imagined.
My fear was just an additional link being added on the main nav panel that didn’t exactly describe itself (i.e. “directories”) if you see what I mean 😉
My vote’s with repairs@
No offence Chris you old glacier dweller 😀

KeymasterOh and do you honestly think I’ll miss with the opportunity to promote e-Jobs once it’s up there? 😉
EVERY visitor to the site will be well aware of it, trust me.

Nope, not at all, just sometimes you (the royal and collective you) have to look from the outside in

KeymasterIndeed, totally agreed and hence the reason for the post. Often others either come up with a better idea or inspire more balanced thinking on a subject.

ParticipantThis seems to be more about presentation than names. May I suggest :
Box
Information
Directories@Box
Appliances
Reviews@Box
Repairs
Repairs/Fix (whatever)@Etc
I would suggest that this is more about clarity than anything else!
Cheers,

KeymasterYeah we need more reviews and more reviews of current appliances for that P. Even a few to kick it off would be good and get people thinking on the machines.
Repairs@ will be supremely promoted. I fully intend making a meal of that one and making it into something pretty special. I have some other irons in the fire so to speak on how to promote that as well.
In the end it baffles me that there’s been such a low level of interest in it. I bet if I offered them free £20 notes there woould be more interest.
It’s so sad that some people with access to this forum haven’t even bothered their arse to do it! I can’t guess what people do and don’t want to do, you have to tell me.
