KeymasterHi, have exactly same prob as other person on forum in that looks like the element has gone on the oven, fan goes, grill works it just won’t heat up. Oven is 2 yrs old and I thought still under parts guarentee. Contacted Expert Aplliance care and they claim that as oven was bought from B&Q with rest of kitchen any guarentee is invalid and told me to call B&Q. The guy told me that B&Q were using “false advertising” and that this problem had happened before. Called B&Q and they deny any responsibility telling me the manufacture needs to honor it. 😯 😕 Has anyone else had this probelm? Not sure wether to cut our losses and just sort it out ourselves as element doesn’t sound to expensive. It just the principle!!!! 😥 Anyones opinion or similar experience/advice would be a great help.
Thanks.May 21, 2005 at 3:26 pm #135357Dave_Conway

I’ve heard about this, stick with your principles 😉
The retailer (in this case B&Q) are fully responsible for the guarantee, if they refuse to play ball, contact Trading Standards as they will take this up for you.

Sorry to start asking questions again but…have spoken to Appliance care people as our guanentee only covers parts not the labour. They charge 45 pounds call out which includes first 15 minutes and then 20 pounds for each 15 mins after that. To me that sounds very expensive, or am I being nieve? 😕 I’m all for principles, but I don’t want to line their pockets when I could use someone local who prob needs the business more than them.

That’s actually quite a reasonable fee monster 😉
You could use an Independant of course who will also be able to carry out the work but the charges will be pretty much the same on the whole. The elements aren’t that expensive.
Check repairs@ for one 😀

HI Monster
NEB appliances that were sold by B&Q have only ever had a 1 year warranty.
The manufacturer of the oven in question (NARDI Spa) guarantee their own branded appliances for 2 years NARDI is the brand.
When B&Q purchased these ovens they only paid for 1 years warranty.
If you have it in writing from B&Q that your oven has a two year guarantee, Please PM me because as of yet i have not seen anything.Originally Caremark serviced these machines then EXPERT appliance care has taken over.
If you have been offered the part free the call taker has got it wrong (idiots). The job should be fully chargable. and the labour rates you were quoted are (as fas as i know) industry standard.
Hope this has shed some light
Regards
Woz

Woh Woh Woh…hold on 1 min… I have had a real nightmare with B & Q regarding the mentioned oven. On the back of oven documentation is says in balck and white “1 year labour and 5 years part gaurentee” As my oven is 18 months old, I called B & Q regarding getting the part required (element). They told me that I need to call the tel no. on the documentation. This was a number by “caremark”. There was a recorded message asking me to call another number. When I called it, I was put through to national appliance centre. They told me that the “5 Year” was a misprint by B & Q. So I called B & Q and they said “this is not a misprint but caremark have gone into liqadation and I need to speak to whirlpool” I got the same responce from them aswell..Do I have no gaurentee now??? Is this all true or am I covered still for parts???

As far as I can tell you are covered for parts for five years.
We had a similar issue with a B&Q customer and EAC (Expert) honoured the call.
PM Woz 😉

Ok I have now located the oven element. It is not behind the rear cover where the fan is located but it seems to be incorparated in with the grill element. Anyone know the part number please??

Is it possible this is one of those ovens that uses top (outer element ) and bottom heating elements with the fan on its own. ie No circular element .
Froomer obviously can`t find it anyway.Hope this helps.

If it’s a Vicenza then it should have a fan element and a twin grill plus a base element.
Just to confirm though, the model number should be FE4623??

Ok just to make myself 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} clear.
I have removed the rear cover on the inside of the oven (4 screws), which exposes 1 fan and not an element in sight. There are no more covers to remove inside the oven. Located in the top of the oven inside is a grill element which is of a grill element shape. Then there is another element which surrounds the grill element which is a square shape. This is the oven element because it gets hot when I turn the oven on. I cannot seem to loacate any element in the base of the oven.May 31, 2005 at 9:13 pm #135370Bryan
ParticipantRe: Neb Vicenza mirror oven
Base elements can be slightly tricky to locate but from your information it would appear that it is indeed a faulty base element.
If you can post the model no. as requested I`m sure Dave will help you with spare parts.
Remember power off if you`re going further.
