I typed a query into google

choosing a tumble dryer It came back with a website manufac sites.

Anyway I suggested some good questions. Most are size, shape etc. But the one I got stuck with is the condensor question.

I am planning on putting the tumble dryer in a cuboard on top of the washing machine. I WAS then planning on feeding a vent pipe into the loft, along and out along the side wall of the house.

Does a condensor tumble dryer cost more to run ?
    Does it shrink clothes ?
If I use a vented version, do I need a suction fan or is a pipe and a hole good enough
Are there any models that ‘detect’ when dry.. I always leave the unit going on for far too long OR not long enough

Best dryer is the simplest. Vented. Less components hence less to go wrong. Sensor dry models are available. Condensor dryers recirculate the same air so drying times can be longer.
As long as the correct heat setting is used there should be no problems.
Do not extend the vent hose. It will cause problems with dryer. and do not use a suction fan. It is not intended to work with one.

    Thanks for the reply.

So the best in vented, but I can’t extend the pipe or use a fanned vent.

    Hmm………..

I saw that device on the earlier page that shows how a pipe can connect to a device and it simply needs emptying but that seems messey.

I signed up to WHICH online for a 30 day free trial.

They had some interesting reading, which gave some recomendations.

At this stage, because of location I think I will be stuck with getting a condenser. I quite like the Zanusi TC7102W, according to WHICH? it has a sensor system, although I cannot see that is any spec online….

I can’t really see myself spending £400+ on this type of thing
