Need Help with a Hotpoint Mistral Model FF92P Fridge Warm

Hi, I have a Hotpoint Mistral Model FF92P Type R134A, the freezer is working ok, but the fridge section seems to be at room temperature.
The display seems to have gone totally screwy too, the top section has been showing +18 for a while and the freezer seems to range from -15 to -22
I am currently defrosting it, I just wondered if this is likely to sort things out, as it seemed to be packed with ice, or has something else caused this?
Is it worth me replacing parts or am i wasting my time?
I’ve read some of the threads & the thermistors seem to be a common problem. Not being an engineer, is there anything I can do by myself to eliminate things.
I currently have the inside cover off in the freezer section.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
