    Hello,
I think I need a new washing machine as my 35 year old Zanussi RW 801 is dying.
I am single, retired and guess I wash about once or twice a week, pile of whites and pile of coloured. I often have need for a half load and would be nice to have a quick wash to sort those disasters. I am not excited by high tech displays, just more to go wrong. So just basic reliable machine would suit me.

    Any recommendation please?

Lastly I did think of a washer dryer but having read some reviews none seem to dry too well or take hours, I am wrong?
    Many thanks in advance imk

    Hi imk

Wow 35 years that old Zanussi has served you very well. Whatever you purchase I can safely say it will not last that amount of time as the build just isn’t there anymore which is why the prices nowadays are that much cheaper.

Washer dryers are a no go area unless you have no other drying facilities or you live in a high rise block of flats. The only one out there which comes close to doing a good job is the Miele at just over 1k 😮

Which to go for? A good start point would be a read of some of the articles here in our buying advice articles.

Many posters on here will have there own opinions on which to go for, myself for the amount of use you are looking at I would look at one of the following Bosch WAE24167 or WAN24100 good trusted brand with two year warranty. Beko WMB714422 good budget end brand standard one year warranty but spares are reasonably priced.

    HTH 🙂
