    Hi there!

My Caple side by side has just broken down, Im not even going to call an engineer as my ex husband was one! Pretty sure the compressor has had it now and its only just over 2 years old. Its the CAFF205SS model. Every time we have either had a power cut or had the power turned off it has caused us problems. I think it had had enough of the power cuts! Anyway, we are in the market for a new piece of kit! I’ve been reading on here that Liebherr is probably the best you can lay hand to but I just can’t find one to fit the size of our opening. Im looking at 200 cms high and 100cms wide. The husband wants the water and ice compartment but Im not fussed. I’m aware I need to pay up more for a decent brand. can you guys help at all. I would certainly appreciate it as Im running rings around myself looking for something that will work!

Daewoo are reasonable price and spares are not expensive.

Daewoo are in general reliable Bosch / Siemens must think so as well as there American Fridge Freezers are just rebadged Daewoo but a lot more expensive than a Daewoo.

So Daewoo are a mid market brand with reasonable parts and service. Do I have any other options? Id love a Liebherr but it just won’t fit in that space. Ill pay a bit more for something thats going to last. Is there anything else thats worth paying up for?

LG are reliable but spares are sometimes not so readily available.

BEKO American are reasonably reliable and spares are cheap.

Price is not always an indication nowadays of reliability.

It is no longer the case of you get what you pay for.

If I was going to purchase an American type I would go for a Daewoo or Beko

I have recently retired but specialised in fridge freezer repairs
and i have found Beko, Daewoo or LG do not suffer from major faults if they go wrong and more likely only minor faults that can be repaired at a reasonable cost.
