ParticipantHi everyone
Just discovered this site through moneysavingexpert and found it really helpful. But need some specific advice on what washer is best for our needs.
Our Creda something-or-other, bought by my husband when he was single 5 years ago, seems to have just packed up. It’s been pretty rubbish anyway so I’m half glad of an excuse to get a decent one.
In terms of budget, we could go mad as we have a significant chunk saved up – but it’s supposed to be for a deposit for a house. However, our house has been on the market for ages and is not selling so it’s not like we urgently need it so far. So, we have options in terms of budget, but if there’s anything that’s good enough for less than £800-900 I will be glad – and my husband even more so.
Anyway here are our needs:
2 adults
– husband is a primary teacher (hence clothes get dirty quite a lot) and cycles as a hobby, does DIY etc. so fair amount of washing, often fairly grubby
– husband also has sensitive skin so good rinse needed
– I am a mum so my clothes get covered in food/sick/snot quite a lot and need frequent and thorough washing2 babies
– 1 year old
– Baby due in JanuaryCloth nappies
– We use real nappies so that adds an extra load (though not a big one) every 2/3 days at the moment, probably more at the start when the baby comes. Need good rinse and cold prewash functions, and just generally good ability to get stuff cleaned wellI would say we do around 5 loads of washing a week (but our machine at the mo is bad quality and very small capacity) and this will go up when the baby comes.
We keep the machine in the cellar which has a very solid stone floor and so noise is not really a problem, although when we eventually move i have no idea what kind of floor it will be on.
We line dry wherever possible.
Thanks in advance for your help

The most obvious answer is an ISE 1607 for that sort of use, if you don’t want to be buying another in a few years time. 😉
A top end Bosch Siemens might do but I don’t know them that well.
Or, you’re into a Miele which I struggle to recommend for reasons well published.
Other than that, for the use, performance and just “no hassle” factor there’s not a lot I could hand on heart recommend to you.
I’d certainly stay away from the lower end stuff.

Thanks… I thought that was what you might say. 😉
Will discuss with the OH!

Hi
Ok we’ve pretty much decided to get it.
But a question:
If we buy it online off this site how does it work with a local engineer installing it? And servicing it if anything goes wrong? Do you join up the dots as it were?
Thanks

Yep, ISE just sort it. Where there isn’t a local sales dealer listed it’s always the case that there’s service cover available if needed.
