KeymasterWhile we were away friends stayed in our house and must have done something to the knobs of the main oven – these are pop-out rotary jobs with a disc at the base with various icons. The knobs now protrude about 1/4″, can be pushed back but will neither lock shut nor fully pop-out. Also, the discs with the iconc have been rotated out of line with the knobs, so it is virtually impossible to accurately select a setting! Is there a way of fixing this? The identical set of knobs and discs controlling the top (non-convector) oven-grill are working just fine. I can only think that our friends found some strange combination of twisting and pushing that I can’t undo. Help please – I am lothe to change the whole control unit into which the buttons link!

Thank you, Penguin 45! I understand from your reply that reparir is not possible.
I also assume that the knobs include the spring mechanism – the NEFF parts chart shows a sequence of parts with knob (part 16 3278 for both)and icon disk (16 8768/69) outside the front panel, followed by some kind of backing disk (16 3330), then a rectangular box (16 3331), then a chassiss plate, then the actual control modules. If the spring mechanism is faulty, which of these parts do I actually need? The Knobs look like they are seperate from any spring unit.
None of the part numbers on the NEFF chart correspond with the part no. that you suggest.
When it comes to installing, how do I get in to the spring unit?
Thanks again for any assistance – it looks like a reasonable DIY job, but a bit og guidence is needed!
Best wishes, David
