ParticipantI replaced the blown element in the oven as I have done several times in the past, I was sent a 2400w instead of a 2300w this time. Unfortunately the oven is getting hot, but now it is getting too hot. I have checked the resistance of the PCT, at room temp it is 570 ohms and when the oven was hot the resistance had gone up to 843ohms. Is this “in the range” for a PCT. Once the oven had cooled I set the temp to 50degrees to see what would happen. The oven heated up and the red neon light went out on the display indicating the oven was at temperature. The element could be seen still glowing though the slots in the rear cover plate. Putting the meter on the element connections confirmed that there was still 240v at the element, by now the oven was considerably hotter than the 50 degrees that I set. Any ideas what has gone wrong?

this oven uses electronic control. to switch the elements on and off they use relays on the board. it is likely that one of those relays welded closed as the element blew
most times its possible to find and replace the relay as the cost of the board is silly

neither can I. well I can find a part number but no one stocks it
there are relays that will easily do the job so you may have to modify connections. yours is 8V but a 9V should still pull in ok if its getting the full 8V. you would have to measure it to be certain
part number I found is RFH34009 (009 means 9v coil)
not the first time Neff etc have used odd ball voltages there is one full of 7v relays
post a pic of both sides of the board where it fits

Relay Found
After discussing with my technical director at work he found me a relay.
The replacement is:
Finder 45.71.7.012.0310
RS stock code 494-6348
£3.55 +vatThis is a 12vdc relay but the coil voltage is a minimum of 7.3v. I checked the coil voltage on the board and that is 9.7vdc. Replaced the relay and all is good. Thanks for your help.
