Machine has been stood in a garage for two years, looks like the wash pump main seal (171598) has dried out, leaking badly.

S5443X2UK/01 Type with sealed plastic base, have done one or two on machines with thin metal base plate from underneath.

Collected a few scratches but managed to remove old seal without having to strip the whole thing down, just working from side and front.

I am hopeful that I will be able to refit the new seal (when I get it)the same way.

Is this how you do it or do you always remove the tub?

    Jim.

That’s how I would do it Jim. Lay the machine on it’s left hand side. You can give yourself more room by undoing the 4 screws that hold the tub to the base, release the door hinge ropes and prise the tub/base apart a little.

A nightmare job doing it that way Jim. Access to the heater/pump chamber clip almost impossible that way. Removing the tub takes 5 minutes, (10mins with one hand tied behind your back) you then have full uninterrupted access not only to lift the motor and stick in a new seal but to check the rest of the base components that have been left to rot in the last 2 yrs of storage.

    “A job worth doing……..” 😉

Five minutes, yeh right, anyone else on here claiming to be able to remove the tub in five, or even ten minutes? :rolls:

Got that clip off easily, have a thin jubilee clip ready for refitting.

Had the machine running and all other components look fine BTW.
